DAN Trip Insurance reaches first anniversary

On June 1, 2004, the DAN Trip Insurance website went live, offering travelers easy, around-the-clock access to trip insurance coverage.

During this year more than 1,700 people have purchased DAN Trip Insurance for their dive vacations, cruises and business travel, heading to the Cayman Islands, Bahamas and exotic destinations such as India, Burma, Vietnam and Fiji.

"For several years DAN Members had been asking us for a policy that would cover the travel-related costs our dive accident plans don't," says Brian Merritt, President of DAN Services, Inc., a wholly owned for profit subsidiary of DAN that administrates DAN's insurance programs.

"The DAN Master and Preferred plans include limited travel delay or dive trip cancellation coverage. But our members told us they wanted something more . . . coverage for their nondiving travel, trip cancellation, interruption and nondiving medical coverage."

By partnering with Travel Guard, a leading provider of travel insurance worldwide, DAN is able to offer a customized plan that avoids duplicating existing membership and insurance benefits at nonage graded rates.
