UK: Bomb detonated after discovery by diver

Royal Navy divers carried out a controlled explosion on a wreck off West Wales, after a diver came across a World War II bomb at the site.

A local diver is reported to have been diving on the wreck of HMS Caroline, off Milford Haven, when he made the find. The Royal Navy was informed and dispatched a diving explosives team, which arrived on Saturday to blow up the bomb.

Before detonation, the divers set up an exclusion zone around the wreck and, because it lies fairly close to shore, advised local residents to open windows so that the blast would not break or crack glass.
