Norwegians rescue entangled pilot whale
When fisherman Sverre Dag Pettersen of Romsetfjorden, Norway went down to check his nets on Tuesday morning (9 August 2005), he got much more of a "catch" than he had bargained for. Pettersen found an "unusually large whale" entangled in his salmon gear.

The coast guard responded by sending a vessel, the KV Sjovenen, to the site of the entanglement. Fisheries Officer Njal Rokenes reported that the whale was tired, and that it took a crew of three men in an inflatable to cut the animal loose.
Subsequently, the whale -- which measured more than five meters in length -- was identified as a pilot whale, or "grindhval" in Norwegian.
